    What settings do you need to turn off before taking it through an automated car wash?

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus 11 годин тому

      Hi! I really need to make a video for this! I wish Lexus gave us a car wash mode, but in the mean time: Here's what we recommend for going through a car wash: Select the shortcut menu (it looks like a little ice cube tray, but the "Climate" tab in the middle of the main screen), I like to turn off Parking Support Brake (PKSB) & Parking Assist (PKSA), then make sure to turn off the Auto Windshield Wipers. If you need to keep the car in Neutral for your type of car wash, you will pull the gear shift to the left (follow the arrows, toward the driver) and hold it in place until Neutral lights up. At the end of the car wash, you will apply the brake, shift into Drive and then you can turn your safety features back on before your drive. I hope this helps. Thanks for being here!

    How can I open the hatch without it unlocking the whole vehicle? It's not very safe to have the entire car unlocked when loading or unloading the back.

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus 11 годин тому

      Hi! Try using the power back door button on the key fob. If that is also still unlocking the entire vehicle then I would recommend asking your Service department to look for a customization for the power backdoor operation. There are additional settings available through the computer that you might prefer. Thanks for checking in with me!

      Hi John! The 201CT does have the Tilt-in-reverse feature, but to my knowledge, it is not programmable. It will tilt based on the saved driving position for the mirror. If you don't like that tilted position, you can turn the feature off by deselecting the L/R buttons. I hope this helps. Thanks for being here!

    I have had my 2024 RX 350 for less than a month and I have been trying to read the Owner's Manuals. The illustrations are so small that I was frequently unable to figure out which buttons they were referring to. Your tutorials have taught me more than I had been able to get out of many long sessions slogging through the owner's manuals. I still think I have more to learn and will be watching them again. and maybe even a third time.

    Thanks for this amazing tutorial. A question: The media player on my NX350 kept playing even after turning off the engine, it was stopping as soon as the door was opening, I may have changed some settings and now it stops by turning off the engine which setting is related to this, I cant find it! Any idea?! Much appreciated! ✌️

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus День тому

      Hi! No worries. That is the ACC Customize setting. When it is set to "ON" then the car must be on to operate those accessories, so when you turn it off they also turn off right away. When ACC Customize is set to "OFF" that allows those accessories to continue to operate, even though the car is off. They will operate until you open the driver's door. To change the setting do this: Settings Gear > Vehicle Customize > Utility > ACC Customize. 👍 Thanks so much for being here!

      @NorthsideLexus День тому

      The 2024 LCs do not have a track pad, they were upgraded with the new Lexus Interface multi media system with the 14" touch screen display. Color Themed Ambient lighting requires a different electrical platform. I would guess we will see that after a full redesign.

    Did I hear correctly that when you hit the brakes, the actual brakes don’t engage until 5 mph? The braking you experience is the inverter motors braking to charge the battery?

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus 4 дні тому

      Hi! For hybrid models, when you are doing normal braking, the motor/generators on the vehicle will slow the vehicle down when you take your foot off of the accelerator. Then, generally when you reach about 5 - 10 mph, the discs engage. If you are doing emergency braking the discs engage right away for full emergency braking force. Regenerative braking is helps to generate power for the hybrid battery and the brakes typically last longer than on full gas vehicles. Thanks for double checking.

    • @bfurl69
      @bfurl69 4 дні тому

      @@NorthsideLexus thank you for the reply. I don’t suppose why the 2020-2022 model RX 450h requires premium gasoline on its naturally aspirated V6 motor?!

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus 4 дні тому

      @@bfurl69 the engines of different models and years are built and programmed differently. Keep in mind that that intake valves have a learning capability, so make sure to look at the Owner's Manual for fuel information. The "Research" octane will get you the best performance and best fuel economy. The "Minimum" octane rating will not harm the vehicle, but the valve timing will adjust to accommodate the lower octane and the performance will not be the same as with the research grade fuel. There were some years where Lexus noted "Premium Fuel Required" on a label inside the fuel door. If your vehicle says that, then premium is what the engine was built to use. 👍

    Hi! I have a 2015 NX200t F-Sport, and I'm experiencing a delay when listening to Bluetooth audio. This issue doesn't occur during Bluetooth calls. When I receive a notification on my iPhone, it only plays in the car about 1 or 2 seconds later. Similarly, when I change music, there's a delay of about 1 or 2 seconds after pressing the button. Can you help me, please?

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus 7 днів тому

      Hi. Some delay is normal when you are changing sources and not all notifications are allowed to share to vehicle. Apple and Android made changes to the their Do Not Disturb & Focus settings in their operating systems. I would unpair the phone (remove the phone pairing from the car and the car from the phone's Bluetooth list of approved devices), power the phone off and back on, then repair the phone. Check any Focus settings for iPhone and any Do No Disturb while driving settings for Android. After that, if there is still any brief delay, it may not be able to be shortened any more. I hope this will help though. Thanks for being here.

      Hi. Unfortunately, I did not have access to an OVERTRAIL at the time of filming and since this is just an intro video, it was not possible to cover everything like I do in a deep dive tutorial. Since the OVERTRAIL build is geared for off-roading and does not have a 3rd row, the rear climate controls are not independently controlled. All of the climate control is set from the front. If you are looking for a GX with Rear Climate Controls, make sure to look at a GX that is not an OVERTRAIL and that is equipped with the rear cabin climate option. Thanks for being here.

    I just realized while parking my right mirror won’t tilt down. Yes, I made sure the settings were correct on the door. What’s even more odd, the left mirror tilts when the right and left button is pressed down.

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus 10 днів тому

      Hi! For cars with this feature, the tilt in reverse feature will tilt both mirrors when you shift into reverse, no matter if the mirror selector is on L or R. If neither L nor R are selected, the mirrors will not tilt. I recommend the following: apply the brake, put the vehicle in Reverse, adjust both mirrors to the position you want each of them in when you are reversing, put the vehicle in Park. If you have programmable side mirrors, these new adjustments will be saved. Make sure either L or R is selected, shift to Reverse to test. 👍

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus 14 днів тому

      Hi! Yes. The 2021 ES comes with a system called Dynamic Navigation. When that subscription expires your map will reset to the original map, since the cloud overlays will no longer be available to show and the updates remain in the cloud. You can subscribe to maintain the Dynamic cloud overlay version, but without it you will still have a map. It will just not be updated so things you may have seen with the cloud overlays will not be there any more, but the map will. I hope that makes sense. The new system has no map at all without the could connection. Big change.

      @@rugmankc That's correct. You can still use the NAV, it just won't be the updated version. It will default back to the map version installed at the factory when the vehicle was built. I have noticed that sometimes after using Siri, my car will keep the Phone's audio selected as the source and it won't jump back to the Radio as the audio source. The same thing can happen if your passenger is using your phone to look at apps on the phone that show videos, like Instagram, Facebook, Amazon, etc. Basically the video interrupts the audio source connection and kicks off the radio and automatically selects the Phone as the audio source. I find that using the Audio Mode button on the steering wheel helps me quickly change sources and get back to the radio. I hope Lexus and Apple will get this worked out. How come my 2024 RX350h only allows me put in 13 gallons of gas? Also, the display only shows 450 mile range. Lexus shows 17.2 gallons, with 600+ range.

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus 15 днів тому

      Hi! There is usually a 3 - 4 gallon reserve on Lexus vehicles, that is why you aren't able to put the same volume of fuel in the tank, it is not completely empty. Also, the range you are seeing seems normal for the 350h, you may also see it adjust up or down depending on the fuel type, your driving style, cargo weight in the vehicle, tire inflation, even the temperature in your area. I have not ever seen anything with 600+ for the range. Unless maybe on a Plug In Hybrid at the very first calculation. It usually takes a few tanks of fuel for the systems to learn and more accurately calculate the projected range. So early calculations are always higher, because there is not enough data in the system for it to project more accurately yet. Thanks for checking in.

    Hello, I have two separate car keys and two separate mobile phones. 2023 Lexus NX 350... I am trying to setup two separate profiles where the car will automatically associate a profile with a specific phone based on the key that is used to start the car. Unfortunately my dealer doesn't know how to make this configuration happen.. Any advice is approximately. Thank you

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus 15 днів тому

      Hi! No worries. Here are the steps I recommend for having multiple profiles on the vehicle: 1. Make two separate Lexus app accounts. (You must have separate email address and cell phone numbers for this to work. You can use the same password and 6-digit PIN to simplify life though). 2. Using the Lexus app account that you want to be the primary account: follow the steps to set up your Primary driver profile, add the VIN to the app garage, pair the phone, link the selected key. 3. Using the secondary Lexus app account, follow the steps to add an additional driver profile. You will not add the VIN to the Lexus app for additional driver profiles. Only the Primary scans the VIN, can see the Remote features in the app, and has control over the connected services. Pair the phone, link the other key to this profile. When you exit the vehicle, make sure you lock the car. The carrying only the key for the profile you want to be active on the car, unlock the car from the Driver's door handle with the smart access system. (Just place your hand in the door handle.) This will allow the car to see the registered key, identify the profile, select it and connect to the phone attached to that profile. If you have to carry both phones with you, you may want to just pair both phones to your primary profile. One can be connected for Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and the other can connect for Bluetooth only. You can switch the connection type in the Bluetooth & Devices Settings menu. If you are carrying both keys and both phones, it may not be able to jump from one profile to the other, so you may need to go to Settings > tap on the name of the profile you want to be active > enter the 6-digit PIN for that profile. Important tip: When switching profiles, the seat memory does not automatically move the seats, you do have to press the button to move the seats. So make sure you have the seats saved for the profile you want while that profile is active. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in!

    As always, thank you for all your hard work with these incredible video tutorials. They are so informative!! I had a quick question and I couldn’t really find it anywhere online or in manual. For the PHEV like the 2024 RX 450H+, can you charge it all the way to 100% daily? I know for pure EV vehicles, manufacturers always say stay around 80% for routine daily local commutes, and only charge 100% occasionally for longer trips if needed. All this to preserve battery. But I believe I heard somewhere that Lexus has already built in buffer logic where 100% charge is still safe for battery since it has a buffer to not overcharge?? Not sure if this is true?

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus 7 днів тому

      Hi @ONI1013 Sorry for the delay! It is perfectly OK to charge the PHEV battery to the max it will allow. From what I understand, the engineers have designed the software to not allow the battery to full charge to help prolong battery life. Just as you had mentioned. The only big tip I have about the PHEVs is to make sure you let the gasoline engine kick on periodically, allowing the vehicle to run in hybrid mode. This helps to make sure the gas doesn't go stale and the fuel pump and other ICE components stay in good working order. It is tempting and kind of fun, to try to max out the EV operation and "never have to use the gas," but unfortunately it is not good for the system. I hope this helps! So glad to have you here!

    • @ONI1013.
      @ONI1013. 7 днів тому

      @@NorthsideLexus Thanks so much for the helpful tips! Yes we do love driving locally and never seeing the gas tank move, but you’re absolutely right. Heard the same thing about using the gas once in a while for gas to not go stale. Also, heard it’s good to drive on freeways once in a while with any ICE cars, as local stop/go driving tends to increase rate of carbon build up, and wear and tear faster. Lastly, not sure if you heard this, but on the newer RX450H+ and NX450H+, there’s an abnormal amount parasitic drain on the 12V Battery. Many people on forum reported having a dead battery after leaving the car parked for 3-6 days without driving it. I also experienced this within first 10 days of ownership. We had left car parked for about 4 days without driving it, and found battery dead. Had to jump start it. I believe Toyota is aware and researching if possible software update may help 12V battery charging modulation logic. Hasn’t happened since, but we keep out keys and phones away, and make sure to never use ACC only mode, and drive it once in a while. Hope info helps. ✌🏼

      @@ONI1013. I have heard a couple of other people ask me about this, and had a guest go out of town for two weeks and his hybrid would not start. The accessory battery had died. I'm hearing more and more people recommend battery minders for longer term travel, but two weeks or less seems a bit much. I'm glad you are not dealing with that now and hope they can figure it out. I know people who leave their keys near by have issues with the car and key batteries. Smart devices trying to talk to each other, so I'm glad to hear you know that as well. I would also consider turning the ACC Customize to On. That means the car needs to be on to run accessories (like leaving the screen and radio on after turning off the car.) Not 100% sure that would help, but worth a try. The car also uses low energy Bluetooth to communicate with the phone as you approach the vehicle. It helps the car "see the driver profile, etc." I'm sure they are looking at all of that. Thanks for all of your info!

The facts and detail presented to us - in a clear, concise manner - is not taken lightly by me. It is what EVERY manufacturer should have for the customer in their delivery package of instructions. Especially with new vehicles and technology now requiring an advanced stage of knowledge for owner-operators, and is almost mandatory for the vehicle to be paired with their cell phone app (if they even possess one). I'm 79 years old and pretty tech competent, but many my age are not. No question. Vehicles to be understood and fully utilized are becoming more than the average person - especially my generation - can handle. I can only imagine what vehicles AI will require a half-gen from now of owner knowledge for semi to auto driving modes. It's mind boggling.
